I Know Why Cows Moo by Hailey Louks

The free cow prances!

And eats wild grass

The free cow dnaces

Watching its reflection

In the river's glass.

But the caged cow is squished

And eating GMO corn.

When he hears the horn,

He watches his friends get turned to much.

The caged cow moos

With fearful ooze

Of fright and danger

Every day getting stranger.

His tone is not heard

Not even a single bird.

But the cow still moos

For Freedom.

My Message to All Kids and Adults:

Charlotte Louks

You need to know that what big companies are doing to the animals we people are eating is...GROSS! They feed the cows corn when they are supposed to eat GRASS!!! They feed all farm animals corn and the animals can't digest the corn! and the chickens are so heavy that they are plopping down and can't walk!

I know how we can stop this: Is we stop buying it then they will stop treating the animals bad and start treating them good!!!!!

Here are some foods you can eat instead, that are also really healthy and good for us: Ask your mom to buy organic vegetables, fruit, pesto, whole wheat bread, and go to the farmer's market every Saturday morning! And order hemp seeds on bulk! (Blend them up in your morning smoothies, sprinkle them on honey toast and on your salad.) Also, grow it (vegetables and fruit) in your back yard - that's what I do.

Metamorphasis Happens!
1.) Kids eat whole foods with me!
2.) when Everybody buys Rawumptious Recipes
3.) Go to the Uncooking Classes
4.) Follow the Ten Commandments
5.) Buy Fair Trade only, especially chocolate.

My Favorite Native Foods

by Charlotte Louks, age 8

Wild Currants:

The Latin name for it is Ribes cereum. My favorite thing about it is that it is very sweet. It tastes a cross between a strawberry and a raspberry. It only tastes good when purple. The leaves are sticky, too. They are ready to eat in early spring.

Sour Flower (aka Sour Grass and Wood Sorrel): The sourest part of the Sour Flower is the stem. I like Sour Flowers because they are sourer.

California Blackberries (Rubus ursinus):

They are bitter and sweet at the same time and they are high in protein. I like the blackberries.

Weeds:

Because by eating the weeds we can save our planet. We can save our planet when we don't eat meat because then we no longer support the livestock and then we have more fresh water, less cow farts and chemical fertilizers (aka nitrogen and nitrogen gas) and we have more places to plant avocado and other fruit trees and re-grow our rainforests.

I blend the weeds up with cold water, frozen fruit and hemp seeds and then they are sweet and creamy and delicious!

          Mallow (Cheeseweed)

          Plantain

          Lamb's Quarters

          Clover

          New Zealand Spinach

          Grasses

Stinging Nettles (but use gloves, and blend them up first, before eating them)

When we enjoy our weeds, we leave more room for our native plants to grow! Also, these weeds have lots of minerals and protein that make us really healthy, Super Kids!!!
